40. Crisis Jiro! The Operations Full Shutdown!!

Katydid Gray

A young boy paints a picture. Kaydid Gray attacks him, because the picture shows Dark's secret radio tower. Chasing after the boy, Katydid Gray runs into Masaru and Hanpei. Hanpei runs away, but Masaru uses the death whistle to summon Saburo. Saburo is disappointed to see Kikaida is not there, but he scares Katydid Gray away. Katydid Gray returns to the Dark base to inform Professor Gill that Hakaida has betrayed them. Hakaida goes to Dark headquarters and tells Professor Gill not to interfere. Hakaida had been programed to consider Kikaida his only enemy, his only mission to destroy Kikaida. He had been programmed too well.

When Katydid Gray shows up again, Masaru uses the death whistle laser, on Kikaida. Kikaida is forced back into Jiro form. Masaru blows the whistle, but when Saburo arrives he tells Masaru to watch his aim. Tilting the whistle to blow it, Masaru had taken the laser off Jiro and hit Katydid Gray instead. Jiro had fled.

Masaru volunteers to take the painting to Tokoyu for a contest. Mitsuko warns him that Dark will try to take it. Masaru isn't afraid because he has the death whistle. Hanpei drives them but naturally his car breaks down so Mitsuko and Masaru walk. As the exit the car the death whistle falls out of Masaru's pocket.

When the Dark attacks Masaru reaches for the death whistle which isn't there. Jiro comes to their rescue. After driving the villains off, Jiro hands the death whistle to Masaru telling him that he can't live without Masaru's trust. Before Masaru can decide whether to use the whistle or not, Katydid Gray attacks. At first Jiro waits for Masaru's reply. At Mitsuko's urging Jiro finally defends himself.

Jiro henshins (transforms) into Kikaida. Hakaida arrives to watch the battle, intending to take on Kikaida when Katydid Gray is destroyed. Katydid Gray calls on Professor Gill to play his flute. Kikaida asks if he is crazy, saying that won't work on him now. However, Katydid Gray is equiped with speakers that amplify any sound, Professor Gill's flute becomes so powerful it even effects Kikaida! Professor Gill orders Kikaida to destroy Hakaida, whom he now considers a traitor.

Kikaida vs Hakaida

Kikaida attacks Hakaida until Mitsuko and Masaru are able to push a small railroad car down the tracks into Kaytdid Gray. The speakers shut down, Kikaida comes to his senses and attacks Katydid Gray instead of Hakaida.

After Katydid Gray is destroyed, Jiro once again gives Masaru the death whistle and demands he make a choice. Masaru must either trust Jiro or use the laser to destroy him. Masaru, after some hesitation, throws down the death whistle and hugs his android friend.
