A ronin ("wave man") was a masterless samurai but these 5 samurai
actually served Big Shadow. Anyone marked with a special yellow liquid
could easily by cut up by their diamoned bladed katanas (curved edged
swords). These katana could also reflect "Bijinda laser" and when
tossed into the air would point in the direction someone marked with
the yellow liguid went.
