Most of the monsters in this series are mindless beasts showing no sign of being rational creatures only near the end do intelligent, but still hostile, aliens appear. For the first seventeen episodes there is no mention of the monsters coming to Earth from space, they're just here as if they have always been here just hibernating. Then in episode eighteen a MAT space station is attacked by a monster from space, Bemstar. Even after monsters from space start appearing there are still other monsters that were already here. The first inteligent alien (seijin), Alien Zelan, doesn't appear until episode thirtyone.
