Episode 8: Terror of the Sweet Honey

Manjome, Jun is teaching Togawa, Ippei to fly their single engine airplane. Below them is a train heading for a tunnel. Just outside the other end of the tunnel a portion of the track has been buried. Jun looking down sees it but its far too latet to warn the train's eingneer, who sees the danger himself too late to avoid it. He tries to stop the train but it crashes. Jun tells Ippei to fly back to base so they can phone in a report of the crash. Meanwhile, a bee researcher named Kimura has developed a special nutrient, Honey Jellion, which he has been feeding his bees. Someone or something ransaked his hives and he is concerned that if some other creature consumed the Honey Jellion it could be a disaster. Something has and it is. Professor Ichinotani , Jun, Yuriko are visiting the lab and learn about the Honey Jelliont from Kimura's boss. A massive mole comes up out of the ground. It reaks havoc on a nearby village. Kimura blames himselft for the accidental creation of this monster. But Yuriko and Jun discover it was a jealous rival, Itami, who purposely let the mole into the greenhouse where the hive was kept. Itami realizing what he's done tries to destroy the mole by usind dynamite to colapse the mole's tunnel but only manages to kill himself. The militaryattacks with tanks and missile batteries. destroying the reaserch station in the process but Professor Ichinotani says the mole simply retreared underground but is so frightened it will never surface again. But then there is a volcanic erruption and because the moles tunnels connect with Mt. Fuji's underground lava tubes the mole was probably killed by the lava. (Either way its a great military victory over a poor dumb animal that was doing what just comes naturally to moles.)
